if the application is not running in another users context, there should be
no permission based problem.
Is there anything to find in the event logs of client/server?
Other possibilities which come into my mind:
Virus scanner on client or server site may block or delay the process long
enough to make the application "think" it cannot write.
Different settings for the SMB signing between client and server (or
sometimes issues on top caused by some network card drivers).
