Does anyone know of a program which will monitor LAN traffic and place
an icon in the system tray (like XP) but works in 98SE?

TIA
Vic

What type are you looking for..

For basic *it came with 98* try:
Net Watcher
System Monitor - pick the things you want to monitor - go to Edit click Add
Item

Or were you looking for something more?

BTW, did you get the polling issue fixed?

Hi MEB

Thanks for the tip on net watcher, I'll have to try it.
Been real busy so have not had a chance to get to NG's till today.
Regarding your question on 'polling':

Went to Intel's web site and found info on the ethernet card mentioned.
It turns out the card is designed to poll unless it's specifically
turned off. Wish I could remember what the polling is for! Turns out
software for Win98 has no 'switch' to turn it off so even as I write,
the laptop connected (networked) I see my main computer being polled
(flashing lights on network icon in system tray). Oh well, it's annoying
but ...
