I have a remote PC that has two users. Each user has
their own desktop, email etc. The PC dials up and
establishes a remote connection with our NT server.
Because I have two users logging on each with their own
profile, when the connection is established to the NT
server, the server copy of the profile is sychronised
with the local copy, thus making the connection very very
slow. I wish to use the local copy of the profile for
these users (on Windows XP this is a straightforward
switch in the user's account between roaming and local)
but this does not seem to be possible on 98. I have
noticed a registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\Curre ntVersio
n\ProfileReceonciliation which contains all of the
folders that are sychronised between the two. Would
deleting this key or the sub folders of this key stop the
profile from being copied across each time?
The two users on this remote machine will only ever log
in on this remote machine - they do not need to log in at
other sites. However, for Microsoft Outlook to remember
the Exchange server settings on a per user basis I need
to have a profile for each user on the local machine.
many thanks
Michael
