The domain is different, even though it has the same name. Therefore, users
will get new profiles.
Profiles have permissions not just on the files and folders, but on the
ntuser.dat registry hive that gets loaded as HKEY_CURRENT_USER. That's why
you're having problems when you copy the files over.
Log in as each new user and then reboot. Log in as a local administrator
and use the "copy to" function on the profiles dialogue (right-click My
Computer) to copy the profile from the NT domain over the top of the new
profile.
