Problems with Win ME and MN-510

I'm having problems with a wireless USB connection on a Windows ME machine.
The access to the internet work fine via a browsers, but any files over 1MB
in size get corrupted on download. This happens no matter what site I
choose. The machine is old (my daughter uses it). Any help or suggestions?
