Hi All

When i try an browse the network in windows explorer for the domain, i
select the domain to expand it out it comes up with an error
message....

Bps is not accessible. You might not have permissions to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions.

The list of servers for this workgruop is not currently available.

Can anyone tell me how i can fix this problem?

Thanks
Ivan

Usually this is either based on user permissions or not being able to
resolve the name. Can you elaborate on how you are connecting, what the UNC
name is, or is it a mapped drive, how are you logged on, is this a
workstation to a server in an AD environment, if so is this a user account
with administrative domain rights or is it a plain user account, if no
domain, what account are you using and is it duplicated on the other machine
incvluding identical password, and is the firewall turned on and allowing
this type of traffic. If I forgot anything please elaborate on that as well.

Thank you,

Instead of the website you're using, try using OEx (Outlook Express or
any other newsreader), and configure a news account, pointing to
news.microsoft.com. Anonymous access. It's free - no username or
password required nor do you need a Newsgroup Usenet account with your
ISP. It connects directly to the Microsoft Public Newsgroups. OEx
allows you to easily find, track threads, cross-post, sort by date,
poster's name, watched threads or subject. It's easy:

Hi

i managed to sort this one out by luck, i tracked it down to the fact that i
was using a dual port network card, the installation of win serv 2003 set
this up along with ad etc using the wizards. (i specified the ip addresses).
The server could view the entire network, connect to the internet etc but the
workstation could not view the domain network.

Anyway i swapped the network card out with a single port one and everything
worked.

If you have any ideas to this i'd be interested to know.

Regards
Ivan

Hi Ivan,

Now I see why you were having problems. A DC with more than one NIC or
network port introduces complexity with the way AD operates. It is
recommended to only use one NIC in a DC. Keep with the one NIC and you'll do
fine.

Ace
