Problems using Netgear firewall router DG834UK with MSN Messenger

I have recently purchased the above router, and am having problems using
voice/video chat using MSN Messenger over a Pipex ADSL connection (it
does not connect, but displays the error 'The audio conversation with
<xxxx> has ended'). MSN Messenger text chat works fine.

Is this is a known problem with this router ? If so, are there any
known workarounds ?

Thanks,

Stuart

You need to find out what ports MSN Messenger is using for Audio and
then check your Netgear router to make sure that Port Forwarding is
allowing traffic on that port.

I'm not sure exactly how you do it on your router but I have a Netgear
DG514 and there is Port Forwarding menu which when I go into I can
add/modify one or more service entries to allow/disallow traffic on
specific ports.

If you're running Windows XP you should also check to see if Internet
Connection Firewall is running as that may conflict with the Port
Forwarding setup on the Router.
