Problems reaching certain sites

Hi,

I use GioInternet, and so far I have not had any problems. Since yesterday
I have started having problems accessing certain sites (eg.
http://www.wh2.org) which worked previously.

I have tried traceroutes for some of these sites and they strangely seem
to be routing via the USA when the servers are physically located in
London! This seems a bit odd to me.

From what I have seen in the traceroute results, I believe that the
problem lies in the DNS settings that I have for my ISP. (213.130.128.32
and 213.130.128.30).

I was wondering if a) anyone using the same ISP can access the above site
b) people using the BT network in general can access the site and c) if
there are any alternative DNS settings I can use without having to pay
anything extra?

Thanks,

Really then why have I just seen this message on the site you
mentioned here.............................................. .........

That would be because that site is only a domain holding page, nothing
more. It just happens that I am unable to access this page, as well as
other sites that I have hosted on the same server, whereas other people
not using my ISP are fully capable of doing so. FYI that page has been
there for around 6 months while I am developing the site behind the scenes.

DNS and routing are two totally different things, unless you've setup
multiple addresses for that hostname, (and you haven't I checked) then DNS
records won't affect the route your packets take.
It does seem odd though I grant you. My trace ran thru Level3's London
network then onto their East Coast (US) net before going onto Teleglobe and
being bounced back across to London.

Who administers or allocated you that IP address ? I'm guessing that address
was once part of a block allocated to an Eastern US location, maybe by
Teleglobe. It's either been released for use over here or internally
reallocated by Teleglobe and someone's forgot to update their records by the
looks of things.

It's owned by a friend, but he is equally confused by it.

I'll see what he says about your suggestion and then post back with any
relevant updates.
