Hi there. I hope someone can help me out. I've been trying
to get our LAN to work properly between a desktop computer
(running Windows 2000) and a notebook (running Windows
Me). We've got a router and a notebook card all setpup and
supposedly working perfectly. I'm able to access the
notebook from the desktop without error. The notebook has
access to the internet via the router (and a cable modem).
However, when I try to access the desktop from the
notebook I get the error illustrated in the following
article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;262916

When I try to fix this I'm confronted with the fact that
my Windows 2000 doesn't show Netlogon so that I can turn
it on. Consequently, I can't seem to figure out how to fix
this mess. If you can help, I would appreciate any
guidance you can provide. You can e-mail me
at "(E-Mail Removed)." Thanks in advance.

Windows 2000 requires a known user name for networked access to its
shared disks and folders.

Log onto Windows Me with a user name and password that correspond to a
user account on Windows 2000. Or, conversely, create a user account
on Windows 2000 with the same user name and password that you use to
log onto Windows Me.
