Hello,

I have 2 servers dell 2600 and dell 2800. The 2600 is bein in my company for
2 years or so, this server handles roaming profiles. Since we started using
server 2003 here and there employees cannot load their roaming profile. the
always get "roaming profile not found" I have never been able to figure out
why. Recently we bough the dell 2800 and also running server 2003, this
server handles project web access. So now every day at certain times of the
day, I cannot logon to project web access, what it is interesting is that at
the same time is when the 2600 is also having communications problems. I can
ping the servers, but I cannot access the servers either via remote desk top,
or use the project web access. According to dell is not a hardware issue
because I can ping the servers. Does anyone know why this would be happening
to me? also the primary domain controller(another dell server) is always
fine. So only 2 of the 3 servers are havign this problem....help please
thanks
joe hernandez

Have you installed SP1 on these servers?

Check out this article and make sure you read the SP1 release notes.

Installing security update MS05-019 or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1
may cause network connectivity between clients and servers to fail:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/898060

Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 898060 outlines a very specific and limited
situation where disruptions in network connectivity may be experienced after
the installation of either security update MS05-019 or Microsoft Windows
Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1).

Specifically, the information in this article primarily applies to WAN and
LAN configurations and scenarios where routers and data-link level protocols
that have different Maximum transmission Units (MTUs) are used across the
network. In these situations, any one or more of the following symptoms may
occur:

- Inability to connect to terminal servers or to file share access.
- Failure of domain controller replication across WAN links.
- Microsoft Exchange servers cannot connect to domain controllers.

The Knowledge Base Article mentioned above provides information about a
hotfix which is now available to address these issues.
