Problems on Linksys Access Point

I have an older Cisco Access Point and 2 PCs connected to it, 802.11b. I
decided it was time to upgrade to 802.11g, so I bought a Linksys WAP54G
Access point and a couple of WMP54G Linksys PCI Adapters.

When I started to setup the AP, I noticed the power light went red right
away and stayed that way. I set up 1 PC, and all I got was "Wireless
network unavailable". I tried:

- 802.11g only
-802.11b only
-made sure firmware was current on AP and card
no luck.

So I called tech support, they said on ver 1.1 of the AP (which I have), red
power light means faulty unit - send it back (I got it at Amazon). So
figuring I could send that one back and get a credit, and wanting my home
network up this weekend, I ran down to the local computer store and bought
another WAP54G AP. Same thing - red power light!!!

So I am thinking, this can't be two bad ones from two different stores right
out of the box, Linksys is a Cisco company. So I set up the second AP, and
I did it by unplugging a PC on my network, using its cable, and then
converting that PC to wireless. The two antennas were within a foot of each
other, and same thing -- "Wireless Network Unavailable".

Can anyone help me out of this nightmare? Linksys was worthless. What does
the red light on Power mean? Nothing in the docs...

thanks

Don

Does anyone know what the red light on for power means? It's not documented
anywhere, and I find it odd that two different Access Points exhibit that
behavior out of the box?

thanks in advance for your help - a little desperate..

Well, I have both access points working, and the power lights are as red as
Santa's coat. Nice that they document things so well, no clue what it is.

Their support stinks.
