Problems with KMail Client

I can't seem to get the KMail client to send mail anymore. I'm using
Mandrake 9.2. Previous versions prior to 9.0 worked fine with KMail. I am
now forced to use evolution which is a great program but I would really
rather use KMail.

As far as I can tell I have filled out the configuration pages correctly.
On the sending configuration form I have:

Name = my name
Host = smtp.comcast.net
port = 25
precommand = blank

Server requires authentication is checked.
login = my comcast user name (I have double checked and it is correct.)
password = my comcast password (I have double checked and it is correct.)
Store SMTP password in configuration file is checked.
Send custom hostname to server is not checked.

On the security tab I used the "check what the server supports" button and
it set:

Encryption = TLS
Authentication Method = CRAM-MD5

I can receive mail but when I try to send mail I get an Authentication
Failure.

I have tried every combination of encryption and authentication method
supported. Nothing works.

Thanks for any help

Does your ISP require authentication for SMTP? Most only require it for
receiving mail via POP and not for sending.

Hey There, I have exactly the same smtp settings as yours with one
important difference: the "server authorization" is unchecked. Don't
check that and you will be fine.

HTH, YMMV, M2CW, LSMFT
