Problems getting xsupplicant to work with LEAP

Hello,

I'm on SuSE 9.2 and having issues getting xsupplicant 1.0.1 to work
with LEAP. The adapter is the Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 (ipw2100). LEAP
works fine with Windows, so I copied down the settings shown in Windows
for the Linux config. Windows is using WEP and 'Open' for auth mode.
I also made a note of the AP MAC.

The first thing I find strange is that I'm unable to use iwconfig to
set up the AP MAC for the interface. I type "iwconfig <if> ap
<ap-mac>" and get no errors, but iwconfig always returns zeros for the
AP MAC when I run iwconfig afterwards to list out the parameters. AP
being all zeros is one of the things xsupplicant complains about.
Tracing its log output, looks like it just doesn't see the frames.
Any ideas?
