I have a network in my house with the following config:
-MS MN-700 router
-WinXP desktop with a wired connection to the MN-700
-WinXP laptop with a wireless connection to the MN-700
(using a MN-720 wireless card)
-A PPPoE ADSL internet connection (CenturyTel)

The desktop pc has problems with many images getting
blocked (red X's) during web surfing and when reading HTML
email. Download speed on the desktop is also much slower
than the laptop (200k vs 500k). When I remove the router
and connect the desktop directly to the dsl modem the
problems disappear. My laptop does not experience any of
these problems (either connected wired or wirelessly), and
neither computer has problems accessing network resources.
Any ideas?

See if this helps

Within IE
Tools, Internet Options
Then goto the Connections tab and hit the LAN Connections button
Then uncheck/unselect/disable EVERYTHING there
Hi ok to accept the changes and see if the same issue occurs

Hopefully that will fix your red "x" issue

Joe,

I had that problem before with the MN-700 and as a matter fact, that was the
reason I had to remove it as a router and I use it only as access point.
AFAIK, there seems to be a firmware issue with the MN-700 and certain
DSL/ISP where there's a delay for each http request.

My setup was very similar to the one you describe and your description of
the problem is very similar to the one I had, except all my clients were
wireless, only the server was wired.

My temporary solution was to use the ISP provided modem as a router and use
the MN-700 as an access point. I haven't had problems with this setup,
although I'd rather like to use the MN-700 as a router, as it has a lot more
features and offers way more control than the one I'm currently using.

Regards,

Luis
