Hey Everyone,
I LAN had and NT 4.0 PDC and I removed it and configured a W2KS Server with
DHCP,DNS,WINS and all the new computer accounts and user accounts. I made
sure of all patches and installed the ADSI patch from the resource kit to
the win98 & winme units. The problem is that some of the windows 98
machines recognize the new"w2k3 domain" and can access the server shares and
some of the win98machines cannot access the new"w2k3 domain". The only
communication protocols is TCP/IP. Sometimes when I reboot the windows 98
machines they recognize the new domain and can access shared resources on
the 2003 server for only a short period of time then I loose the connection.
Are their any specific instructions on how to configure windows 98 units to
a 2003 domain? I may be doing something wrong in network neighborhood
properties and not realizing it. Humbly appreiciate any suggestions. Thank
you.

Joey

Make sure the Win98 machines have the WINS Server in their network
settings,...make sure the Servers all use the same WINS in thier network
settings as well. The WINS Server is the "common ground" that they meet on.

Win98 is WINS/Netbios Based,....not DNS Based.
