Hello i have the next setup
31 computers networked with windows xp that are in a
windows workgroup ej called:group
34 computers networked members of a windows server 2003
domain ej calledomain
I have the next situation (it's not nesesary a problem but
i don't now why)

first
When i'am using a computer member of the workgroup "group"
and i go to the network browser and move to the "domain" i
have the next situations.

1º I enter to some machines and i browse the shares
flawless, enter the folders that have permission to
"everyone" ok.

2º I enter to other machines and i get asked for a domain
user and pass

3º I enter to other machines and i get kicked with a "pop
up" that say, "you don't have access to this network
resource"

The question is the next, why this happend? all the
computers are configured equally and have the same
permissions.
I think that the normal behaivior must be 2º "get asked for
domain user and pass".

After some investigation i have see that the computers that
have the guest acount activated are the ones that reject
when i connect to them " 3º " the solution is deactivate de
local guest acount and then they started to ask for a user
pass like "2º".

-----------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------------------
--
But i don't now why some computers get to "2º" get asked by
user and pass and some others get "1º" "enter the computer
and see the shares"
-----------------------------------------------------------

Replied in m.p.windows.server.general. Please don't multipost - if you need
to post to multiple groups, it's best to crosspost instead, by posting a
single message to a handful of relevant groups (separate the NG names with
commas) so that everyone can follow the thread. Thanks :-)

Hi,

you can try like this. If you are accessing a domain resource from workgroup
when you get prompted for username and password enter it like this:

under username type in domainname\username and under password enter password
for the username.

I hope this helps you out,

Mike

I now that if y put DOMAIN\user
y can get in
the problem is
that some computers don't ask me the user pass
to browse the shares and some other yes.
Why this happens ?
