Problems with Belkin F5D7633uk4A (no internet)

A friend asked me to look at why he couldn't get on the internet. He has a
Belkin F5D7633uk4A wireless router and the DSL light on the front is lit,
indicating that he has synchronization with the exchange but the internet
light is *not* lit, which says, to me, that he's getting the broadband
signal to/from the exchange but not getting on to his ISP.

I reckon that this is something to do with his ISP (Tesco.net in the UK) -
maybe a username/password issue, or an authentication issue or something.
Looking in the router manager pages, there is no IP address, DNS other
details being allocated from Tesco - yet they say that everything is OK at
their end.

Anyone shed any light on this for us please?

Cheers,

John.

John,
No help I'm afraid but I have had similar problems with a similar model
(F5D7632uk4) all lights lit but no connection to the internet. Sometimes, if
left on, it connects after a period of about 1/2 hour.
I downloaded a later firmware release - but this hasn't improved things.
I've thought about trying another brand - but haven't found a users' review
comparison site. The wireless link on the Belkin works fine through several
walls and reports of other brands indicate problems in this regard.
I think your problem with the router not your ISP. Worth checking with other
Tesco users local to youself.
Phil.

Thanks Phil, I'll try his connection with another router.
