problems after using WEP key

In our home, we have a bunch of laptops on a wireless network. For a long
time, we didn't use any security on the network. We finally decided to make
it secure, and for the most part, it works fine. Everyone can use the
Internet.

The problem is that now I can't access other computers on the network
whether by domain name or IP address. Pinging them doesn't work. It won't
even work if I make a static ARP entry. I used to listen to music and remote
desktop to my other computer. Now those things aren't possible.

Is there something about WEP that prevents this? Is there something I can do?

No, WEP isn't going to create a problem with this - (and note that WPA would
be a better bet if your AP offers it & your cards support it).
Are you using different LAN IPs now that you've done this? Software
firewalls in use? Anything else change 'round the same time?

It turns out Norton was blocking the windows service. I'm not sure why that
happened to occur at the exact same time, but it's working now. Thanks for
the suggestion.
