Dear subscribers.

I recently upgraded from SuSE 8.1 to SuSE 8.2 and unfortunately I can't get
my NetGear MA401 pcmcia wlan card to work properly. I've found on the
Internet that I need to rename the "ifcfg-eth-pcmcia-1" file created by
Yast2 to "ifcfg-wlan-pcmcia-1" in order to have the config. file found by
wlan-ng packet. This way the message "Apr 30 13:04:38 tuxpc ifup: No
configuration found for wlanpcmcia-1 wlan0" in var/log/messages is
prevented. According to the documentation that I've found, that's all that's
needed to make the wlan card to work properly but unfortunately this isn't
the case for me. After renaming the file I get the following messages in
var/log/messages (I've extracted the parts in "messages" that seems relevant
to me). It seems to me that some functions are missing according to the
messages in the lower sections, made by "ifup-wireless".

The card worked without any problem with SuSE 8.1. I just configured it with
YAST2 and it was up and running.

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards, Ola Theander

Ola,
Check out the SuSE support database article at
http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/wavelan.html. The troubleshooting section
should help. I have more info at my page at
http://pages.sbcglobal.net/zvan.
My card is set up as eth1 and works fine.
