So I solved my problem and this is how I did it (just in case someone
else run into something similar and might help them out)...
Simple (of course).... My wireless connection was "bridged", and the
Network bridge was being shared also by my regular NIC and a Firewire
port. Of course I had disabled the regular NIC during my previous
testing, but what I did now was take the Wireless out of the Network
bridge and configure TCP/IP/etc on its own... And that did the trick.
I don't know why, but it started to work immediately. It would be nice
to understand why it wasn't working before, but as usual, after
spending countless hours on this, now that it works, I don't care :-)
