problem sharing printer

I am having problems printing from mr remote laptop Dell
latitude C600 everything else works great. The base
station is running winXp the laptop is running win2000
pro the printer is a new lexmark X1150. I keep getting
the massage that the laptop cannot find or cannot connect
to the printer
