Hi.

I have run into some trouble setting up RIS on my newly installed x64
server. The problems only occurs on Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition.

The first problem is that my clients doesn't find the RIS server if I don't
set option 66 and 67 in my DHCP. The error reported from PXE is PXE-E53: No
boot filename received. Using a x32 server works without setting these
options.

The second problem is more critical. When trying to install using a
precreated AD computer account the RIS server shows the wrong GUID during RIS
setup. When PXE-booting the client I see the correct GUID. But on the summary
page during RIS setup (install.osc), I see a GUID created from the MAC
followed by 0:s. And since this is the wrong GUID compared to AD a new
computer account is created instead of using the existing one i AD. The
server is a memberserver with WSUS on it. The client OS is Windows XP Pro SP2
x32.

Have anybody else run into these problems?

Best regards
Fredrik

Hi Fredrik,
Regarding your second problem:
To avoid the creation of a new account in AD you have to enable the tool
menu of he Client Installation Wizard (CIW) displayed by RIS.
The details of the process are available in the below listed link:
http://technet2.microsoft.com/Window...de6121033.mspx

Hope this will sort out the issue
Thanks
Manish
