After Windows Server 2003 SP1 Remote Desktop support SSL (TLS 1.0) so I
installed the new version of the client from system32/clients, installed a
certificate on the server, configured terminal services to require SSL and
everything goes fine.

The problem is when I use "remote desktops" MMC. In this case, on my XP, I
have not the "security" tab under options. I tought the tool was not updated
but, looking at the same tool on 2003 I see this tab.
Obviously I installed the adminpak from 2003 sp1 on my xp but I have not
this tab.

Anyone can help?

Thanks a lot.

Ricky

Yes, I had the same problem.

You need to install version 5.2 msi file.
This drove me nuts - I found it here:
http://www.petri.co.il/download_rdp_5_2.htm

you could probably get it from ms download too I guess.

Note: don't try the web version (tsweb) if you are trying to do TLS - it
doesn't support it..

I found this on MS web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Is this the correct file?
I ask this because I cannot access the site you linked.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your help.

A little update.

I tried the package from MS and I obtain the same thing. I have not the
security tab under Remote desktops in administrative tools.
The "Remote Desktop Connection" application installed from clients under the
2003 server still have the tab.

Sounds freaky!

The "help|about" of my one shows the following:
Help About on mine:

Remote Desktop Connection
Maximum encryption strength: 128 bits
Shell Version 5.2 (Build Number 3790)
Control Version 5.2.3790.1830
(c) 1998-2002 Microsoft Corporation

Why can't you download it?
Its only a 900Kb file (ish).... and that link is Daniel Petri's excellent
page on how to get RDP to work... it contains the link to the file (and some
great guff on how it all fits together)

try this link
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...7/msrdpcli.exe

Finally I downloaded it (it was a prob with my browser), but I already
installed the correct version of Remote Desktop Connection app, I was asking
if there's a way to use TLS with the "Remote deskopts" MMC included in
administrative tools.

I cannot use TLS from XP but I have the option under Windows Server 2003.
From what I saw I can tell that the two versions are using different files.
