Problem : RARP and kernel 2.4.XX

How I can use RARP protocol (or any funtion to discover the IP address
with Ethernet MAC address on a switch LAN) with kernel 2.4.XX? Rarp was
deprecated in the kernel 2.2.XX !!!!
