Problem printing test page

I've installed an old printer onto one of my Windows 98
PCs.

However, the test page from MS Word did not print
correctly. I've tried some further tests from other
applications but all of the print jobs are incomplete or
garbled.

What can I do to solve this problem?

install the correct drivers for the printer
