Problem with mounting using eth0 addr

Hi All,
I am mounting an directory on the same machine (mount 127.0.0.1:/
tmp /mnt/test) and this works. When I try the same mount with actual
eth0 IP, I am getting nfs timeout, retrying message. (mount
10.125.27.230:/tmp /mnt/test - does not work).

I am using FC8. I have disabled all firwall, cleared iptables, but
even I am not able to find the reason for failure. Any pointers?

Do you have all of the needed services running on both systems to use
NFS? What errors are you getting, if any? Do your logs show anything?

Check /etc/exports probably you exported /tmp to localhost only.

I was trying to mount locally and also I had exported the directory to
world.

Anyway, the problem got resolved (I had to modify some networking
configuration, modify /etc/resolv.conf).

I understood that. But localhost is 127.0.0.*, and if the NFS
export is bound to addresses in that range only, then accessing
it with the IP of the external interface will result in
connection rejection. So the export must be bound to the
external address, to.
