Problem with MN-720/SP2 - update not working

Trying to set up a wireless network at home. My brother's
laptop, running XP SP1, works fine. My laptop, with SP2,
does not. I initially got that incompatibility message at
install, so after I installed the software I then
installed from the update and updated the application
software (the only thing the updater detected that had to
be updated). But it still isn't connecting. My brother,
who set up the network, is baffled. Any ideas?
