problem installing proftp with mod-mysql

hi everyone
I m installing proftp with mod-mysql
after make and install
when i start proftpd it say:
error while loading shared libraries: libmysqlclient.so.12: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

but...libmysqlclient.so.12 is right there..

any help would be grateful

Right where?

Make sure libmyslclient.so.12 is locatable through /etc/ld.so.conf, and that ldconfig sees it. (try running ldconfig -v)
