Problem with HP IPAQ 5450 and ASUS WL-500g

I have installed rom 1.11.19 and wlan upgrade 0.100.5.39 on the ipaq, and
the latest firmware on the asus, but still I can not see my wireless network
(ASUS wl500-g, a 802.11g and 802.11b wireless router) on the ipaq. My laptop
is using the network at home ok, and my ipaq works fine with regular 802.11b
wireless networks. What's wrong? When I start the wlan driver on the ipaq,
it disturbs the pc-card if it's connected, so I can not use the pc. I do not
see any signal on the ipaq (0%). Have any of you used a ipaq successfully
with a 802.11g base-station?
