Hi,

I have been having a small network at home based on a Dlink 713P
AP/Firewall.
Two laptops connects wireless using Dlink 650 PC-cards and a small
linux box
is plugged into to the built in switch of the 713P. A cable modem is
connected
to the WAN port of the 713P for internet acces. That all worked fine.

Then I moved to a house and found that it was hard to find a
configuration that
provided good wireless coverage on both floors so I decided to get
another AP
and moved things around a bit.

On the ground floor there now is the 713P with the cable modem. From
the switch
in the 713P a ethernet cable runs up to the upper floor to a small
dlink ethernet
switch (cant remember the specific model right now but has also tried
a 3com hub).
In the switch a WAP11 2.2 AP is pluged in together with the linux box
and a desktop win2k PC.

Now to the problem, if one of the laptops are connected to 713P and
the other laptop is on the WAP11 they can not ping each other! Both of
them can get onto the internet just fine and they can both access and
ping the linux box and the desktop PC. They can even ping both APs.
Also if the laptops are both on the same AP they can ping each other.
The APs are configured on different cahnnels (1 & 6) and have the same
SSID. WAP is off.

Any ideas of what i going on ??

TIA !

/Pelle

As far as I understand the hiden node problem it occures when you have
two wireless clients connected to the same AP but the clients can not
hear eachother and therefor the colision detection fails and the clients will
jam eachothers packets. I my scenario I have two clients connected to two
different APs using different channels (1 & 6) and I dont see how it can be
a hidden node probelm. Frankly I do not belive this to be a radio problem nut
a routing problem....
