Problem getting on internet with linksys wireless

I'm using a linksys wireless AP and a linksys PC card in my laptop, and
sometimes when I first boot up the machine, it will take up to 5 minutes
before it recognizes my internet connection. I've got the AP connected to a
cable modem. Anybody know of a fix for this or what might cause it? I tried
upgrading my IE to version 6 and now it is happening again.
