Problem in FTP transfer

Hii all

Currently i am facing a strange problem in ftp transfer .
whenever i try to transfer big size files collection like 5-6 GB mb
between linux machines. After 30 - 40 min. of transfer, receiveing
machines hangs while sending machine remains in good condition .
I search all the files related to ftp .... but never get the solution.

I am using ethernet adapter with 100 MBPS speed ,
Intel Motherboard
CPU : celeron 700 Mhz
RAM : 128 MB
wire : UTP cable
HDD : 20 GB
connected through 8 port HUB

What adaptor - who makes it? Which kernel module are you using
with it? What distribution of Linux are you using on both computers?
Which kernel version? What MTU have you set at the sending and
receiving ends?

Who makes the hub? Is this specific for FTP traffic, or does it
happen if you transfer the 5 - 6 GB of files via other TCP based
protocols as well? What about transfers over UDP?

Do you get the same problem if you use a crossover cable and
directly connect the two computers?
