I'm new to wireless networking. Just bought a Di-624 router and a DWL-G520
NIC. Everything works fine unless I disable SSID broadcast or change the WEP
to "shared key". If I do either of these the card no longed automatically
connects to the network at startup, although it can still be configure to
connect manually. Is this normal?
Thanks,
Bob

There is no reason to disable broadcasting the SSID. It provides you no
additional security. Change the SSID to something you will recognize,
use WEP encryption (don't change to "shared key") or WPA if all your
hardware supports it, then on your clients put in the encryption key,
disable authentication by an outside server (unless you have set up
something like a Radius server which I doubt) and you will be on your
way. Here are links to help you:

How does that old joke go???? OH Yes,

A man sees a doctor and say "It hurts when I do this"
the doctor looks at him funny and says "Then dont do that"
