Problem Connecting Notebook

Hi,

I just bought an HP zd7000 notebook with a Broadcom 54g Max Performance
802.11g wireless card.
It connects to my Linksys BEFW1154 wireless hub. This using a WindowsXP pc.

The hub is a Linksys BEFW1154 802.11b.

I have configured the card for DHCP and static address.

With DHCP ipconfig /a shows the ip address starting with 169. I did some
research on this and found that ip address is assigned by Windows ip
autoconfiguration when it can't get an ip address from the DHCP server. My
hub is configured as a DHCP server. When I configure a static ip address,
ipconfig /all shows the address but I cannot ping the hub or any of the
other two pc's on the network. Both of these pc's connect ok.

I turned off the XP firewall on the network device connected to my DSL per
instructions from Linksys tech support. This didn't help.

The other computers on the network connect ok. They are using Linksys 802.11
wireless adapters.

One other thing I should note. Lately I have been having a lot of problems
getting my wireless adapters to get a connection to the hub. I have to
constantly change the channels enable and disable using the Administrative
url connected to the hub. I purchased a new Linksys 802.11g wireless hub
which is being shipped now.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Sincerely,
Dale Richards

1) You have a BEFW11S4 - a NAT router / 4 port switch / 802.11b access
point

2) Your card is a 802.11g - you need to check the 802.11g config - and make
sure it is stepping down / it's allowed to 802.11b

3) What is your laptop showing in terms of wireless connection? Either
using the software that comes with the card, or the Windows XP zero config?

Does the 802.11g card see the 802.11b access point? what about SSID? MAC
Filtering? WEP? open versus shared?

Hi Jim,

I found out what the problem was. I had to delete a network bridge in order
to configure the wireless adapter.
It works fine now. Thanks,

/Dale
I went into Device Manager and checked the properties for the Broadcom card.
I went to the Advancded tab
