i cannot print to a network printer (shared printer on an xp pro pc. The
printer appears in the directory but when i select it the message "windows
cannot connect to the printer. either the printer name was typed incorrectly
or the specified printer has lost its connection to the server"

has anyone come across this problem before?

another thing i have noticed is that the pc does not appear in network
neighbourhod although i can ping both in and out.

i have tried flush dns. renwing ip and even assigning a static ip address
and host file but it still wont appear and other computers cannot browse to
it.

any ideas?
