Printing problem - spooler/driver not releasing GDI obj's need to

Hi,

I've a problem on a Windows 2003 server (with the latest updates etc.):

It's our print server and every so often it stops working. Speaking to the
printer manufacturer they say it's an application on one of our 300 client
PCs (or a server) that's not releasing spooler GDI objects on the server -
when this reaches 9,999 it stops and we have to restart the print spooler +
some of our printers start printing rubbish.

So, in a nutshell, I need to log the number of spooler GDI objects over time
so I can catch it when it peaks, check the event logs and find out what was
being printed at the time.

Unfortunately performance monitor can't do this - there isn't a counter.
And, although it can be added to task manager this doesn't log anything.

Does anyone have any ideas or a script I can use?

Thanks in advance.

Iain.

Iain,
The printer driver has a fault, so you need to do all this work?
What happens if you delete the driver from the server? Does the spooler
service still stop?
