Hi Rich,
Thanks for the reply. This is not an issue of time delay, the first copy
prints, no others. I have tried wired, although primary connection is G
wireless. I realize that everything is a little slower, but this is not a
case of taking too long, it just doesn't print any more than 1 page per
command, no matter how many pages I ask it to print.
It's possible my problem is that it's an old printer. In fact, it's an
antique by computer standards. I bought it *used* in 1999. It's an Epson
Stylus 600. I do have the "latest" XP and Win98 drivers loaded on the
appropriate machines. Not sure how to load the XP driver on the 98 machine,
if you can tell me how, I'd be glad to try it.
No internal firewall, only on the DSL modem.
And Office 2000 is up to date according to MS's site.
Thanks for the suggestions, any further ideas would be appreciated.

Brett,
With using a network printer, each copy of a page, might be considered as an
individual job. There may be a pause in printing between each job. There is
an inherent delay, when the printer is not directly connected to the PC
originating the print job.
What you should consider are the following:
1. Check for the latest version of the printer's drivers, which might
include an update for the printing software.
a. You might want to add the XP drivers to the W98 PC.
2. Is the XP PC connected printer server via hardwire or wireless? A
wireless connection will making the printing job longer.
a. If you are using a router or wireless connection, check
manufacturer's sites for driver updates.
3. Did you add XP SP2? If you did, you may need to check if there is a
driver update for the printer.
a. Check manufacturer's sites for driver updates.
4. If you are using third party firewall software.
a. Make sure you have you have the latest version, especially if you
have added XP SP2.
b. And check any security settings, printing setttings.
5. Check for software updates for Office2000, again, especially if you have
installed XP SP2.

I have Office 2000, full version, running on an XP Home machine. Print
Server is a dedicated Win98 machine with virtually no software on it.
When trying to print multiple copies of a document to a network printer, by
selecting File/Print, and entering the number of copies, I only get one copy
printed.
Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks
