1. The printer driver has to be loaded onto the TS Server *ahead of time*.
It needs to be the same drive that your workstation uses.
2. Some USB Printers simply just will not work. With USB printers it is a
"crap shoot" as to if it will work or not. In my experience the HP LaserJet
1505 (which is USB only) is one such example.
My expeirience with the HP LaserJet 1300 & 1320, I had to physically carry
the printer over to the Server, plug in the USB, let the plug-n-play install
the printer in the normal way. Then I unplugged the printer,...deleted the
printer (the driver always stays behind, deleting the printer does not
delete the driver). Took the printer back to the user. The 1505 would not
respond using this method (or any other method) and I eventually gave up on
the 1505.
I then found out how to add just a Driver to the OS without the printer
present by using "File-->Server Properties" from the Printers and Faxes
windows,...but it made no difference with the 1505. The 1505 would print
fine locally from the server when attached directly to it, but would never
properly redirect when the printer was local to the user.
It is very possible that others here have had other better or worse
experiences,..but those things are what I experienced.
