printing from home to office printer

I have a HP laserjet printer in my office. I run Windows
Me at home and I want to be able to print some documents
from my home computer to the office printer. The printer
is a network printer with a valid IP. The "Network Install
Wizard" from HP does NOT find the printer when given IP and
then name because (I think) it does not look through the
internet.

Is my problem solvable or not? (I know this is possible in
XP. What about Me?)

Thanks
John

Hello John;
The HP Install Network Printer Wizard can not find your
office printer because it, and the computer it is
connected to, are not a part of your LAN( Local Area
Network). I do not think what you are trying to do is a
simple task technically or economically. At any rate, see
if the subject matter is covered here:
http://www.bcmaven.com/networking/faq.htm. If Steve
Winograd does not discuss it on his web site, my advice
would be to forget it. Have you thought of using a laptop
compouter? Good luck.

I don't understand why the HP networking wizard isn't working across the
internet. Is it possible that it is being blocked at a firewall, either at
your end or at the office? That you are using Win Me should make no
difference provided that you have the necessary permissions to access the
printer.

ME needs the internet printing update, that could be it.
