Printing accross network slow

I have a Novell 5.0 server using queued based printing on
an hp 4000 and an hp6 both with jet direct cards. The 4000
has an internal jet direct card.

I have one windows98 SE workstation that is very slow to
queue jobs to print. The hardware configuration is
identical to one that has no problems printing.

I tried looking for an interrupt conflict as the microsoft
optical desktop mouse and keyboard freeze while the
computer is queueing the job.

We recently moved so Ithought it might be a bad network
cable. However, after trying another, the printing is
still very slow.
