What your talking about here could become somewhat of an issue if you do not
have someone that knows how to setup this up. One solution would be to setup
router/firewalls at both ends of communication and setup VPN tunnels.
However, if you are doing this, that is going to cost you some time and
effort just to be able to print to another location. Until you move forward
with implementing the domain and moving torward a more orginized and sensible
environment, I would just email documents as needed. The workgroup setup
makes things a bit sketchy, however, it can be done.
