Printer sharing XP to Windows 95

Hi all,

My network setup at home consists of the following:

Windows XP Machine > Switch > Windows 95 Machine > Parallel Printer

I am experiencing some trouble when trying to print to the printer on the
windows 95 machine from the xp machine:

Basically:

- When i select the printer from the drop down box in any application on my
xp machine it appears to crash. The only fix for this is to go Start, Run,
\\name_of_windows_95machine and a few seconds later it wakes up. When I
press ok to print it will crash again and i have to do the same fix. This
lets it print but it is extremely irritating because every time I print or
change printer properties I get this crash and have to do that fix.
- If i print from the windows 95 machine everything runs perfectly smoothly
- All file sharing works fine and both computers can 'see each other'
- I have tried attaching different printers to the windows 95 machine it
makes no difference
- I have tried the registry tip for xp to stop searching for scheduled task
on the odd change it would work. It didnt.
- Because of the space in my office I am unable to connect the printer
through my Windows XP machine so it has to stay on the 95 one

I am considering getting myself a print server but I really would rather
save myself the money and get this printer sharing issue solved.

Anyone have any ideas?
