Printer sharing with broadband network, Windows XP and ME

I have a new broadband network with between Windows XP and
ME. The ME computer can not detect the printer on the
network. I deleted the printer from the ME computer and
want to have it detected on the network as I reinstall
it. I think I have file and print sharing enabled on the
XP computer. Both computers are able to access the
internet successfully. Why can't the ME computer see the
printer on the network so that I can go ahead with the
reinstall?

Assuming both computers are on the same workgroup...

You need to go to the Printers folder on XP and share the
specific printer. Then go to ME and add a network
printer. The printer should then appear on the list.

If this does not work, make sure you are not running ICF
or another firewall on the computers because that could
block file and printer sharing.
