I am getting ready to upgrade my server that I have several printer shares
on. I have about 90+ users using these shares. I was wondering if there was
a quick way to point the workstations to the shares on the new server
(diffrent server name) or am I going to have to reinstall the printer on all
the computers. Keep in mind I am not using AD to manage thes computers.

I think you will have to remove and reinstall the printers.

That is why I don't use a "server" to make printers available. I just have the
machines print directly to the printers over TCP/IP. As long as nothing causes
you to change the IP# of the printers themselves you never have to touch them
again. The printer will be considered a "local" printer and then will apply to
the whole machine and you won't have to add them for each individual user
profile anymore.

I understand that perspective, but it does make it easier when it comes to
printer installtion on an individual level. While I am not opposed to
haveing to reinstall all the printers, I just want to see if there is any
other options I could use instead.

The downside is that if the printer changes, you have to visit each and
every machine -- Using a server to make printers available means you can
make some level of changes on the server without having to reconfigure
every PC.

Neither is perfect.

A better solution would be to be able to deploy TCP/IP printers via
group policy. You can now deploy shared printers that way, but not
TCP/IP printers.
