You need a wireless router. If your 1610 has a wireless adapter in it,
you can put it anywhere in the room. If it doesn't, then just use its
network adapter to connect it to the router with ethernet cable. You'll
set up your wireless access and router by connecting to the router with
your laptop using an ethernet cable once. After the router is set up,
you can disconnect the ethernet cable from the laptop.
Check with your school regarding what router to get and the rules, etc.
