printer information

I've been looking at the Epson Photo Rxxx series of printers. Can someone
explain to me why the opinions are so diverse, and who am I to believe?

RedHat indicates they are 'problematic'.
linuxprinting.org indicates they are barely functional (1 penquin out of 3)
Mandrake, excuse me, Mandrivel now - gives it a clean bill of health, and
basically says it works perfectly.

Any other opinions?
