Did you install (upgrade) Windows XP by installing over Win98? If so, you
may not have the correct driver. Windows XP ships with a driver for your
printer so I suggest that you first remove the printer by using the HP
Deskjet Uninstaller which you can access from the HP folder or from Control
Panel, Add/remove Programs. Once you have done this, add the printer in XP
following the instructions provided by HP.

Hopefully, this will resolve your problem.
In the future, I suggest that you post your question in a group that relates
to your problem. The microsoft.public.windowsxp.print_fax newsgroup would
be the place to post a question regarding printing problems using Windows
XP. This is where you will reach the most expertise on Windows XP printing.
