Print server DP-300U

Hi there

I am new to Linux - just installed it yesterday.

I have a question regarding a print server I have: a D-Link DP-300U.

In the "GNOME Print Manager" in Linux I have tried to set up access
to a printer on the print server by specifying:
queue type = Networked UNIX (LPD)
server = 192.168.1.4
queue = PS-0F5915-P1

These settings I figured out more or less by trial and error. And I can
print, so I guess it's ok.

But, the "server" address I supplied is hardcoded in my setup, whereas in
reality the print server is dynamically assigned an IP address, which
theoretically could change (in which case I could no longer print).

How can I specify to the Linux print manager that it should search for the
print server? Is there a "name" or something I should use? Or maybe my
router's address?

Thanks for any advice,
Peter

You can either set it up to use a static address (tie the unit's MAC
address to a particular IP) or just assume that the dynamic IP will
always stay the same. As long as your print server keeps running (i.e.
isn't shut down for an extended period), the assumption should be safe.
