Does anyone know where I could find a detailed manual for the Prestige 643
router/modem?
It's quite an old model (though it happily does > 6Mbit) with quite a
complex command line interface that has much more flexibility than going
via http. For a start, I was only able to input my ISP username via the
telnet interface, the web page restricted the maximum length too severely
for it to fit, despite the fact that the memory space to store it
obviously exists.
Telneting takes you to a sort of BBS style ANSI interface, with a CLI
option a couple of menus down.
The commands run numerous levels deep, with each level having it's own
subcommands.
eg IP WAN ADSL RDATA <Argument>
While the inbuilt 'help' is useful to the extent of listing the commands
and telling you something about what arguments are expected, it doesn't
give enough detail to work out exactly what's going on and I'm fairly sure
I could cripple it bad style if I tinker carelessly. I can't even find the
hardware reset-to-defaults button.
I'd also like to figure a way of 'hacking' back to the OS that's almost
certainly in there somewhere behind the 'BBS' application.
What I'd *really* like is some reverse engineering hints or disassembly;
if at all possible I'd be interested in tinkering with the flashable part
of the (ee?)ROM.
Any hints would be very very welcome. If anyone actually has original
documentation files that are too big for email and doesn't have easy
access to a webhost I'll happily set up a dynamic URL pointing to a
web/cgi or (preferably) FTP interface on my home machine so they can
upload them.
If anything needs emailing, probably best to warn me, though certainly
make sure it's to the 'reply to' address rather than the 'from' field on
this posting.
Thanks..
