Preparing network connection goes in loop

Hey
I have a win2003sbs server and it has worked fine for
months now. but today the server stops at preparing
network connections on startup? What can be wrong?
checked the cables and it`s contact with the switch.
Please help.

If you leave it long enough it will probably continue. Sometimes unpluging
the cable from the nic before boot up will let it get past that, then plug
the cable back in. One of the more common causes of this is an improper DNS
setting. The SBS machine by nature is a DC,...the *only* DNS that should
appear in the network settings in the machine itself. Any other DNS servers
(the ISP's) should be listed in the DNS configuration under Forwarders.

Also,...in addition,..if this is a two-nic SBS machine, the nic facing the
LAN should be listed first in the nic priority and the "internet facing" nic
should be below that,...it is also preferable that File/Print Sharing and MS
Networking be unbound from that nic.
